to know
is to think you know
to doubt
is to leave space
like a fallow field –
the ploughed earth
resting quietly
beside the baying cows
to know
is to think you know
to doubt
is to leave space
like a fallow field –
the ploughed earth
resting quietly
beside the baying cows
Oh oh oh this is so beautiful! I think I almost prefer your shorter poems. Each line packs a punch. I like how you’ve turned doubt into something so powerful and promising as a field. This is definitely my new favourite of yours.

I’ve read this a few times; it didn’t sink in at first but on a third reading I got it ; it is deceptively simple but actually it’s profound and truthful; a special poem that is quietly beautiful with a lovely last line
