bodies
have tide marks
where time’s ocean
drops detritus
on our
shorelines – their
smashing
crush
bringing wave
after wave
to submission
living oceans
inside & out
we’re being fished
drilled and
littered
bankrupt
spirits
like the quiet
decay
of diversity
Brilliant and poignant poem. The imagery of the body as ocean, wave and shoreline ” tide marks” powerful and innovative thinking. Really well penned.👍

Thanks. Glad it came across. Wasn’t sure it made enough sense.

Love the idea of my body having life’s tide marks, as long as they don’t leave stains on my underpants!

Thanks. Sorry. This waiting for surgery gets one down.

I hope you’re okay… not sure if you’ve mentioned what kind of surgery you’re having on your blog, but you’re in my thoughts!

Much appreciated. A mastectomy. 😦 But I’m finding out how common it is! You don’t realize how many people (in this case women) are getting this kind of news all the time!

yes. I know more than a few.
it’s awful, but your life is more important. I’m just saying that rhetorically – but it’s what always comes to my mind first.

They’re fracking me as I type and I must say, I’m ready to surge in typhoon style and hop that shore anyways. 😉

Glad it made sense to you. I wasn’t sure when I posted it last night and I still wasn’t sure when I read it this morning. It was supposed to be about being tired physically and mentally – inside and outside. I was talking about the inside and the outside of the ocean but how it related to the body was a bit mixed up.

it was a bit mixed up but my body was feeling that way so I ‘felt’ my way into it 🙂

Wonderful poem! Sometimes it feels like a levee is needed… Hang in there. *hug*
