after another month of silence I dial the familiar numbers “I was about to ring you” chirrups sweet as solvent from her prosthetic tongue tight-lipped I dream of reversing this silent discord this dull new texture in our friendship some inconstant breeze riffled without cause our yummy sharing, the sweet gurgle of late night conversation bitten off laughter slumber parties bitter as an unpickled olive I stepped away not just from her but from the words "best friend" the hollow clang of my stubborn resistance when even the most wonderful step into my path

And yet she tried so many times. This olive is still bitter, Mister Bump. 😂

The words blend effortlessly. I feel the same laffy taffy frienships at times. Pulling away and hoping there’s enough give that at some point we’ll come together again.

This packs a punch. You can feel the disappointment and and sadness and resentment in the imagery.

Thanks. 🙂. Did you know (this is totally unrelated but I thought you might appreciate it) that the stem cell in bone marrow is called the haemopoietic (pronounced heemopoetic) cell. It feels like something writers should know. 😃
