Waiting Rooms

the smudge of time
insouciant minutes
like sentences
missing punctuation
the run or the muddle
therein

whittle time
like a pencil tip
watch grey curls fall
littering white paper

finger on pause
I’m here until called
a smudge of time
insouciant minutes
like sentences

  1. I’m picturing just waiting forever in a doctor’s office before being called. Waiting is hard, but I love the comparisons you made—the missing punctuation line is clever!

I enjoyed reading this. It’s very beautifully penned and well written.

And you know what, I’m so oblivious. I missed the title lol. Gahhh, where is my head?

  2. I love the repetition of the lines:
    ‘the smudge of time
    insouciant minutes
    like sentences’

    – they seem so insouciant of themselves, but for those who are waiting they can seem endless!
