The sun sits
in leaky splendour;
watermelon juice
staining this upholstery
this smog brown décor this
Faberge sunset this
velveteen smoke haze.
A cloying choice
but here we all sit
in our plush living room
our shrine of consecrated ignorance
and listen to the clock
and the crackle roar of our future.
What a fabulous wordfest. I love the way you create images of domestic bliss and then bring them back into our current reality with the cutting sobriety of the last line.

I really love this poem written by Canberra poet and writer, Wormsie. Wormsie writes about daily life, the natural world and our place in it, and the challenges ahead. Check her out.
From the sun’s leaky splendour to the crackle roar of our future, what’s not to like! Excellent imagery.
For the record, I came here via Tracy’s reblog. 🙂

Thanks, Suzanne! It’s another story that needs shouting from the rooftops, I think.

Love the Faberge sunset; it’s so fancy and useless at the same time. Amazing verse.
