Should we cover our eyes?
The weather is changing
shedding kaftan of spangled yellow
and twitching greens.
A boozy breeze arises
(should we cover our eyes?)
brandishing fickle fists and
punching cloth to flapping,
draws forth a wool curtain
in sullen billows over trees.
Should we cover our eyes?
A storm in gunmetal grey
malicious, sexy, glinting -
a skintight arboreal gown.
We are the change room.
Should we cover our eyes?
Love how you used the form! The repeated line you penned changes with each stanza – fascinating.
I am taken by “boozy breeze” and “We are the change room”
I used to work in a retail store and had shifts manning the ‘changing rooms’ – amazing how a few folks will take advantage of that privacy by switching tags or otherwise attempting theft. That was the first thing I thought of.
That and having to change for gym class in Jr High school. No one should have to be forced to ‘change’ in a group.
We do need to ‘change’ our attitudes to accept our similarities and our differences. Well done.
I really like the last two stanzas. Especially the last two lines. Really well done.

I’m afraid to close my eyes as I might not ever open them again…

Love the question frame and of course the booze breeze. Cheers to another superb verse, Worms.

Many thanks, K. Nothin’ like a boozy breeze.
