Thanks, Bob. In Australia these jellyfish are often called blue bottles. So I wrote “blue as poison” just because it popped into my head. And then I thought of how poison bottles used to often be blue. And I liked that it was a play on the common name here. And they do have a nasty sting. Mu husband has experienced it.

We used to take a bottle of vinegar to the beach for stings when I was a kid – it worked. And handy for chips as well.
