Poetry

Written for Miz Quickly’s November Prompt Day 10 (describe by indirection)

We are gathered here today to assemble
coloured pebbles into queues. Aesthetics
that bumbling tongue twister of letters
must represent all that we find beautiful

our efforts are like the knitting needle
keeping on track so much semi-tied yarn
nothing is as indubitable as “click click”
the satisfaction of things falling into line

soldiers, type writer keys, musical notes,
bubbles on a beach, chains of warty seaweed
all neatly arrayed as the curve of every horizon
& we tiptoe into constellations, magic at our feet.
