Written for Whimsy Gizmo’s Quadrille Prompt “Bold”
evening pushes shadows over and the distant hills wear gold berets of sun but in the morning mist nothing’s so bold shapes simper forward and the mountains wink shy bobbing there between white and shifts of blue like fedora hats doffing on the sea.
Doffing. What a wonderful word. I’d forgotten about it. A lovely poem filled with hats!

love the opening and closing lines so much, with their references to hats; reminds me of Billy Collins famous poem ‘Death of the Hat’ which you might really enjoy 🙂 it’s easy to find —

That is a lovely poem, John! Thanks for mentioning it. The casual matter of factness of it reminded me a little of your poetry, actually. A really good read.

Tha ks so much! Lovely comment. And lovely that you’re able to comment. Did the happiness engineers help?

It’s great to be back in ‘comment land’! I don’t think the HEs helped much; it all boiled down to asking my friends to check their spam settings. It eventually worked itself out. Everyone was very cool about it and so helpful!
