Simple Duelling

Written for NaPoWriMo Day #6 (take a poem in a different language and see what the words remind you of)

I used “Hoy Chamizo” by Luisa Futoransky

stars
and pasta
vex the maps
the cubes

abridging is
is perilous

I re-route my life,
pampered and lazy
to be sure.

Simple duelling
brings us together
and finally
the mercy of valediction

Wheat grains wheel
all through the spring

and in the fire
the night takes orbit.
Have we lost all our pies?
