Review: Rain in a Carpark

Written for NAPOWRIMO Day 24 “write a review of something that doesn’t normally get reviewed”

on the bureau’s map
this mass of cloud
has its mouth around our state

medicinal bullets
pelt your healing skin

these jaws of wet
into which we plunge:
cars and people and headlights
scything through the
plummeting dark

umbrellas take to rapping
choruses in umbilical grey

street lights
snuff out
silenced by the breath
of brandished shadows
I take photos

silver infinity symbols
stamp 3D in your puddles

trying to catch the rain
as pencilled light
people run and squeal,
use anything as a hat
a carpark of shiny smiles

give the weather a big round ten
